If your child lives more than 3.2 kilometres from the school by the shortest practicable route, and this is your closest school, he or she is eligible to use one of the free school buses that service the school. Children must travel on the buses that service their address and alight at the stop nearest their home.
Bus services to Greenbank State School are provided by Park Ridge Transit (07) 3802 1233. Application forms for bus passes are available from the school or the bus company which should be contacted to obtain information about bus routes, pick up and set down times and places.
Recommendations For Bus Travel
1. Children should be at the the stop 5 minutes before the listed departure time.
2. Younger children should be 'buddied' with older children or supervised by adults where possible, while waiting for the bus and walking to and from the bus stop.
3. Children should be taught safety procedures for crossing roads.
4. Children should wait till the bus has departed before attempting to cross roads.
A Code of Conduct for School Children Travelling on Buses has been developed by Queensland Transport. This is a set of behavioural guidelines for students to follow when travelling on buses. It includes procedures for bus operators and bus drivers to follow when managing student behaviour associated with school bus travel. The Code also provides a clear process to deal fairly and quickly with incidents involving inappropriate behaviour.
Parents are requested to discuss bus behaviour expectations with children. Concerns regarding bus behaviour should be referrred to the bus company and to school administrators. Misbehaviour on the bus threatens the safety of all travellers. Therefore all misbehaviour should be reported to the office. It will be investigated and dealt with according to the Code.
Written notification will be provided from the bus company regarding such incidents.
Should you wish to view a full copy of the Code, our school holds one copy as a reference.
Behaviour considered unacceptable includes swearing, rudeness, giving rude hand signs, annoying/teasing other children, being out of the seat, leaning out of windows, spitting, fighting and throwing items around (or from) the bus. No food or drink should be consumed on the bus. Children waiting for buses in the afternoon are supervised by teachers in the school grounds.
Children issued with bus passes must produce them for the driver on request.

If, for some reason, you wish your child to alight at a different stop or catch a different bus from normal, a written proforma must be sent to the administration for approval. Proformas are included in the Bus Policy Booklet. Extra copies are available from the office. If you write a note please include information required on the proformas.
Children should present proformas/notes to the office early on the day of travel. These will be signed by the Principal and can be collected from the office by the child for presentation to the bus driver. See Bus Policy Booklet for further details.
